The surfer attempted paddling into this wave at Belharra, France. He suffered a horrendous wipeout on the drop. Going over a bump he bounced off his board and skidded on his back down the face, looking up as the crest threw over him. If he had made it to the bottom this could have been the biggest wave ever paddled into, well over 60 feet high in my analysis. Jamie Mitchell is 6' tall. The following wave was bigger, said to be a 70-footer by witnesses, which Jamie faced when he surfaced, wearing a life vest so he could not dive under it, so he took the 70-footer on his head, and survived. See him interviewed by Dave Kalama on YouTube.
